Let's Talk Bikes with Yann!

Parlons Vélo avec Yann !
Cycling in your childhood?
Started out on a small folding bike (even back then) near Chambéry. Then cycling meant a BMX (an MBK) with friends during adolescence. Crazy about freestyle, we'd work on our tricks every weekend, whenever I had a moment.
A bike I tinkered with a few friends. I kept my last BMX, a fluorescent pink GT Pro Performer, very popular at the time (it was the 80s, after all), which I restored in 2020 with my son. It still looks great.

And after that?
I then switched to mountain biking in the 1990s, then full-suspension, more all-mountain, and have been on an e-mountain bike for 3-4 years, which is the best for the mountains, around Savoie and Tarentaise.

And cycling today?
Daily "bike-commuting" with a muscle bike or an Ultima City or even a Cargo bike. We even got rid of a car in the family! As soon as I can, if I have appointments in Lyon or certain other cities, I travel by Ultima bike, of course! It's also a volunteer commitment because I run "Répare ton vélo" (Repair Your Bike), a bike self-repair workshop in the Montchat district (Lyon 3) with a team of super volunteers. I created this workshop in my neighborhood in 2020.

The bike of tomorrow:
A vehicle for everyday micro-mobility in cities and the countryside... An easy e-bike with automatic transmission, which recovers energy during braking to increase its range. A bike for daily use, allowing 2 adults to travel and carry groceries. Regulations for e-bikes that evolve with a permitted speed of 30 km/h would be great...
